Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE)

Help us shape the InflAIM Research
We’re looking for people with experience of multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs), carers, and members of the public to help shape our research. InflAIM explores how inflammation, nutrition, and inequality affect MLTCs — and how we can predict and prevent them earlier.
About the Project
What are Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTCs)?
MLTCs means having two or more health conditions at the same time. Examples include diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, or mental health conditions. People with MLTCs often face complex treatment plans and challenges in daily life.

What is PPIE?
PPIE means working with patients and the public, not just doing research about them. Your insights help decide what we study, how research is designed, and how results are shared. No research experience required — just your lived experience.

How Can I Get Involved?
You can get involved or contribute to a variety of activities including (but not limited to)
- Joining our PPIE group (regular meetings, flexible attendance);
- Help us review documents, reports, resources and materials;
- Co-design workshops and support public-facing events;
You can contribute as much or as little as you like, we'll support you throughout.

Support and Inclusion
We’re committed to involving people from all backgrounds. You’ll receive: Training and mentorship, online or in-person support, reimbursement for time and expenses, and regular feedback on your impact.
